ecmp 355 experience

Wow, the semester rocked. I took an amazing course through the university of regina, with a prof named alec couros, I've learned all about technology and how to embrace it in a classroom, some of the methods explored in this class will definately be part of my classroom. It was a fun class which i endurded the cold weather to attend. Its a great class to take and i'm probaly going to take 455, because as we grow as a golbal community we need to learn how to grow as teachers as technology advances we must keep our eyes and minds open to the new concepts which emerge becaues i beleive in the close future that our students will need techology in one shape or form to work in the real world, the biggest thing that i've got is that techology is a great resouces but don't over abuse it and over use it. loved this class take it all u of r students

Tapped in Charlottes Web

So at this very moment I'm particiapating in a Tapped in session it seems quite easy to operate, as they explain simple operation to work this chat. But it seems at the beginning its pointless people talk randomly for no reason, and it seems forever to get through a concept. Because everyone needs to add to sense about everything it feels like i'm trapped in a bad version of a sad chat room. I can say the information wasvery helpful, there were some great ideas and websources

If you are ever doing a charlotte web project these are some great projects to hold within a class and also some great ways to embrace technology.

I don't know but this woman seemed like a repreceitive of Walden media, even thought she said she didn't wprl. I don't know about the tappedin expreneice it definately was not for me, (well maybe it was just this one), to me the breeze session which my ecmp prof holds seems more intiseing and intresting, i think it comparision i'd rather attend a breeze session compared to this, this seems more complicated and less efficent, but maybe that was the chat that i attended. So in short the information was good, it just took the chat session to long to access all of it and get to the point.

SNOW

Its beginning to look a lot like christmas,... Snow finally, and in my books winter has final began. And now with christmas being less than 30 days away its a prefect time to snow. I don't think any christmas is complete without snow. But on the up side the snows taking this long might be a good thing, you see this is my frist year living off campus and i walk so i find it a great thing that the coldness has just recently came with only 6 more walking days left so thats pretty kick ass. Well anyways i love snow and i'm happy its finally here that means snowboarding season in saskatchewan is going to start pretty quick.

got me a blockbuster card

So i've lived in the city for almost a year and a half and decided i think its finally time to rent a movie. I felt quite liberated and pretty excited to get my frist movie card, see i used to live in a small town where all they would require is your telephone number and since everyone new everyone it was no biggie. But here holy two pieces of id to rent and movie and u have to put someone eles name on the machine if they want to rent from your card, holy hasselhoff what an ordeal. But i just wanted to inform the internet world i am proud part of the blockbuster family.

where did this semster go?

Man has this semester flew by, yikes and it almost finals, thank gosh I'm in education and only have to write two. Really I was just thinking of how fast the last 3 months has flown by there are only 12 more days left of school (counting today) Thats insane! But don't worry about me I' getting everything done, slowly its a little over whelming 6 project in 12 days. I just want to remind everyone to take a breath and relax were almost through this crazy 1st semseter and it went ok, and we get to go through it all again in January! I've included a picture of me carving a pumpkin just to display my creative side and show you all some of the fun I've had this semester since i forgot to put them up before.

oh yah, i wanna give a shout out to my mom since she google my name and found my blog and then busted my chops for all the spelling mistakes. You are truely a principal who embrames technology.

stupid university

The university of regina, really just pushes some of my buttons sometimes. It really pisses me off that this university doesn't work together with all other universities and oyhrt school systems and pick a day which they can all agree on for a day off, Along with our feburary break (reading week). Like really whats the point of having all these hoildays off at different times, isn't it stupid though. Because seeing people from saskatoon and all over saskatchewan cannot hangout as much as they would like to with the wonderful students for teh u of r. Like really u of r get it together!

Mahones and Bratt Attack

It was an exciting week in Rochelle life, went to the mahones on thursday not a bad band, irish punk, ya gotta love it. It was pretty sweet to watch the guy with the piccolo rock out, gave me a good laugh. Actually really enjoyed the show exepct for the fact the doors open at 8 and then didn't play till around 10 kinda sucked monkey nuts. The on saturday night derek adn I went to see bratt attack there were three bands before them, some shitty espically some emu high school band called madison SUCKED so hard, but all emu bands suck. But Bratt Attack stole teh show, they were easily the best band which so many people missed they were missing their singer but they still rocked. I think there was only 3 people in the crowd who listen to the Bratt Attack before that show. So here is my intresting story Bratt Attack asked me to sing, (this is actually true) and i refused becuase i think i suck and have been told repeatedly i'm no good, but could u imagine the possiblity if i would have and i would have been good like geez i wouldn't be here i'd be travelin on the road with bratt attack imagine that....

Tellecollaborative Learning

Kidlink is a collaborative link which all children get together all over the world, well anyone that is 15 and under. Can submit projects, chat, write information about themselves(Who am I pages) to meet new friends. This is how it works... A child, a class of students, and adults register by answering four basic questions and send them in. Each registration is checked by a human. Upon approval, a confirmation is sent them containing a personal nickname and password needed to access Kidlink's private services.

Once registered, users are invited to join Kidlink's various activities, including interactive discussions, and educational projects. They are also challenged to become volunteers and run own projects

Discussions and collaborations between kids take place through various Kidlink channels, ranging from KidComp Discussion rooms, kidspace communication and publishing platform, public mailing lists to form-based publishing, collaboration and interaction channels (like kidart and web page forms). Some are public, and others are only available to registered members.

I think i'd use this program in my classroom for discovrvy of other culturre and display other artwork and also a lot of comparisson. I picked this website because it also has a teacher infromation site which you and others (teachers) can communicate with others about how you embrace technology. I think this is a great website which I'd totally embrace. I also really like how the applications are looked at by a human and then choosen if they are acceptable to kidlink.
